Metallic label printing made easy

Once again we’re leading the way with cool label printing ideas and technology up our sleeves. One of our current favourites is metallic label printing. Whether it is adding a metallic sheen to all or part of a label being printed or adding watermark, subliminal, dimensional and/or graduation effects – there are tonnes of options available.

However, we often find designers and product managers are apprehensive about adopting this extra feature in their products. No one doubts the extra “wow” factor and eye-catching appeal of metallic label printing, but for those starting out the process can seem way out of their league.

Metallic label printing doesn’t need to be tough

One of the best ways to combat this is by using Color Logic software – we are now Color Logic Certified which makes it even easier for you to get a better look. Colour Logic provides a range of software options to ensure you can match your metallic palette to the same conditions as your printing company to add metallic colours via plugins for Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, and to visualise in 3D exactly what your metallic label will come out looking like. We love Color Logic as it is the most economical way to jazz up your labels – but until now it had been a really difficult and expensive process.

We’re a licensed (one of only three in NZ) and soon to be certified Color Logic printer, meaning you will know your metallic designs can be printed exactly as you have planned. If you’re totally new to metallic designs, our on site experts are happy to support you through the process and ensure your reflective label printing dreams are realised!

The Color Logic system is also really efficient in terms of compatibility.  Your labels will be printed on one of our two HP Indigo digital presses using white ink plus CMYK on a metallic substrate. We produce our own Process Metallic Color Charts, using normal production substrates and inks.

Color Logic also have a lot of great resources on what styles can be achieved, and how to make them work. This youtube video gives a good idea of how the software works and what you can achieve (including a brief photoshop tutorial).
